A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2 arrives on Netflix

The second season of 'A Good Girl's Guide to Murder' is now streaming on Netflix, continuing the story of amateur sleuth Pip Fitz-Amobi. The release marks a notably fast turnaround for the young adult mystery, which first premiered on Netflix internationally in July 2024. Emma Myers, known for her role in Netflix’s 2022 series 'Wednesday', returns to lead the cast.

The series is adapted from the best-selling novels by Holly Jackson. The first season covered the events of the first book, in which high school student Pip investigates a closed murder case for a school project. This second installment is expected to adapt the sequel novel, 'Good Girl, Bad Blood', which sees Pip launching a true-crime podcast to solve a new local mystery after vowing to quit investigating.

The series return

The show’s return comes swiftly after its initial debut. Originating on BBC Three in the United Kingdom, where it premiered on July 1, 2024, 'A Good Girl's Guide to Murder' found a global audience after its subsequent release on Netflix. The rapid greenlight and production for a second season signals confidence in the property as a fixture for the streamer's young adult audience.

Produced by Moonage Pictures, the series has been praised for its faithful adaptation of the source material and the performance of its lead. The first season ended with Pip solving the central mystery but becoming entangled in its dangerous aftermath, setting the stage for her continued, and reluctant, investigative career.

Cast and production

Alongside Myers' return as Pip, the series brings back Zain Iqbal as her partner-in-investigation, Ravi Singh. The six-episode season was once again penned by lead writer Poppy Cogan, who adapted Jackson's novels for television. Dolly Wells directs the new season, taking over from Season 1 director Tom Vaughan.

The production maintains its co-production status with the BBC, which holds primary broadcast rights in the UK. This model, where Netflix acquires international distribution for a BBC series, has previously been successful for shows like 'The End of the F***ing World' and 'Giri/Haji'. For viewers outside the UK, Netflix serves as the exclusive home for Pip's latest case.
